So, below, you will find information on Lisa Litberg and the links to her book “Free”.

Hello everyone!!!

Happy New Year!!!! Hard to believe it’s now 2015! I hope everyone had a GREAT Christmas and got everything they wanted, and I hope that everyone has a very blessed, and wonderous 2015. I have a book that I’d like to promote. A good friend of mine wrote it and it is her first ebook on Amazon so I thought I would try to help her out and get her book some publicity. Here is the link if you’d like to check it out: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00RW16ARC. The the book is called “The Bingo Caller” and the synopsis sounds very interesting. And if you’d like to talk to her personally, her Facebook link is: https://www.facebook.com/xanxa.symanah. I would love to get back into promoting books so if you know anyone who’s writing and selling on Amazon, tell them to e-mail me at JamieLKaplan@hotmail.com with their book information, a little blurb about themselves, and any Facebook/Twitter/etc links they may have. I’ve been trying to write a story myself but it’s just not coming to me. I have a good beginning, but I’m stuck from there. My writing muse disappeared on me. Not sure where he went, haha. Hopefully, he’ll come back to my conscious soon and I can start writing again. I can post the beginning here so you guys can read it and provide feedback if you’d like. Well, please check out my friend’s book and I hope you guys like it. 🙂

Until next time…

Teaser:

“― I said I would protect you from anything, right? Well, I will, but there’s something about them that puts my teeth on edge.”

I really couldn’t blame Louis, I mean, they were vampires. Regardless of the fact that I’d slept an entire night at their house and left without a single bite mark or puncture wound of any kind, it was in their nature. I also couldn’t help feeling a little more on his side now that I knew the truth, but it was a big struggle now that the shock of it had lifted. On the one hand, Connelly was a vampire, a blood-sucking monster who could rip me to shreds with a flick of his wrist, but on the other hand, he had saved me from Randy. He had saved me, and that action in and of itself was what stopped me running away when he had shown his true form. That single act was what was keeping me… transfixed.

Excerpt:

As the rock connected with my head, my vision blurred and blackness threatened to overcome me. I blinked it away temporarily, more tears from the pain sliding down my face, and looked up at him. How could this be happening? I never, in all my life, thought he would… The world was spinning and I was beginning to feel nauseous. He was saying something, but it was like I was under water. I felt bile rising in my throat and started to say I was going to puke when he was suddenly off of me.

I rolled over and wretched. When I looked up, I saw him flying backwards through the air, being carried by something with huge claws. Whatever it was, it was too covered in shadows to make anything out clearly, but I didn’t deliberate on it too much. I wiped the bile from my lips and staggered into a run that steadily increased in speed.

Then out of nowhere, something big slammed into the ground in front of me, and I smacked into it before I could stop. I fell to the ground, my dizziness returning and the corners of my vision became rimmed in blackness. I squinted and forced myself to focus as the mound of billowing smoke moved and grew taller, showing what lay beneath the shroud. I started backpedalling as I took in the sight. Eyes as red as blood stared down at me, while a wide mouth showed sharp teeth and let more smoke fall with every breath. Its body was a dark gray and covered in short fur that still showed all the muscle underneath. The huge wings, which were made of sinew with small hooks at the tips, were open and ready while one of the claw-like hands reached out for me. I’m hallucinating. I’m hallucinating. I have a concussion and I’m hallucinating. I kept repeating in my head, but no matter how many times I thought it, it wasn’t helping me calm down. It seemed too real.

I screamed like I’d never screamed before and turned to run, but the smoke was already too close. I could smell chocolate, vanilla, and peppermint? Then smoke from a campfire and the smell of the forest. I slowed my escape, as the smell of the smoke overtook me. I became light-headed and lethargic. What’s going on? Why am I… why am I moving so slow? What the… hell is that thing? I shook my head, but that just made it worse and I had to lay on the ground to steady myself. “Wha…wha…” I tried to speak, but it was like my mouth wouldn’t work.

The creature walked up to me slowly, looking me over, and I squinted up at it as my vision worsened. I tried to fight whatever was happening to me and shook my head. “Please…” I fought with my mouth to form the word. “Plea… se…” It just looked at me for a minute, and then started reaching for me when everything went black.

#2

“Kota, I’m begging you, stop right now before something bad happens. Before you get hurt.” On these last words, I had to stop. That was too close to what was really going on and I was suddenly on guard. Does he know their secret too? How?

“Louis, what exactly are you talking about?” I was nervous and scared. If he knew, they were in big trouble, but if he didn’t know, I didn’t want to give away anything that would make him suspect. “How do you think they’re going to hurt me?”

“Kota, listen,” he said, turning to completely face me now. “I’ve known people like them and they never do any good. These people are different in a bad way, and you may not see it truly now, but trust me, you will soon. Something will happen.”

“What if you’re wrong? What if they’re just different and they do do good?”

“If they’re just different, then they’re still drifters, and that means that what you and Connelly have isn’t going to last. He’s going to leave, and then you’ll be left. Hurt.” He sat up straighter now and added, “Either way you look at it, you’re gonna end up hurt if you stay with them ― Either physically or emotionally.”

I was trying to ignore how much his words hit me, and part of me thought I was getting so mad because I didn’t want them to be true. I couldn’t back down though, not now. I was too deep into it now to quit. I knew too much, and even though it had become dangerous, I was going to have to stick it out. I couldn’t let them down. “Then who should I be with? You?”

He looked surprised for a minute and then shrugged, saying, “Well, you know, I’ve always ―”

“That’s just the problem,” I interrupted. “Instead of just being a friend, you’re acting out of jealousy because you want me to be with you.”

“Kota, that’s not what I meant, and you know it.”

“How do I know for sure?”

“You know me, that’s how! I’m your best friend!”

“If you were really doing this all along just to get with me, then you weren’t really a friend at all.” The words were out before I could stop them and I bit my tongue. We both looked surprised and his face changed from being angry to being extremely hurt.

Along time ago in a city in central New York ….
Alternate Hilarities
Episode 1
Back from the Dead
In the early nineties, a man had a dream. A dream of funny stories in his favorite genres, Science fiction, Fantasy and Horror. Not just a joke at the end of the episode like the original Star Trek or the occasional gem from Douglas Adams, but all the time.
So the small press fan-zine, Alternate Hilarities was born. Six issues were produced against his ex-wife’s express wishes.
And they were terrible!
Just Terrible!
The first issue was a simple photocopy print job. He moved up offset printing by the second issue, 11 by 17 paper, folded over and saddle stitched with glossy cover. It looked semi professional but proofing was not his strong suit. He had no funds to hire a proof reader and let’s face it, volunteers suck.
But the stories were great. Many talented authors sent in great funny stories. With concepts like games show in the afterlife, the last man alive and the secret life of a teenaged mad scientist.
But in the end, the cost of publishing his pet project became too much and the zine was retired.
Now, two decades later, the overhead and distribution issues of the small press have almost disappeared with the advent of eBooks. With a new partner in crime who can do line edits, with a professional level understanding of spelling, grammar and punctuation, the man decided to give his old love a second shot.
So, here it is, The New and Improved Alternate Hilarities. We have Alien invasions and Abductions, Time Travel, Ghost Ships, Demonic Possessions, Flatulent Clowns, Body Switching, Talking Monkeys and Feghoots.
That’s right, I said Feghoots.
Google it.
So off we go. With Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and Halitosis for all!
Halitosis? WTF? I mean Polarity?

Christina OW writes suspense, thrillers, erotica, interracial and multicultural romance books. She is the author of Contemporary, Fantasy, Paranormal, Regency Romance books and a poet of currently 3 titles. She loves reading novels that take her on a ride of wild emotions. Books have always been an escape for her, for a few hours she gets to live the lives of characters she grows to cherish and admire. She’s always had an active imagination and because of it has lived in her head more than she has been in the outside world. She always imagined scenarios and wondered how they would turn out in the end, and what kind of emotions they would invoke. Thus began her writing career.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
My love for reading novels started a very long time, about when I was 10 or 11. I was in awe of how a person’s imagination could just take form and fill up pages. I loved the fact that I would read the words and watch it play out in my mind. Some of the books became way more interesting than watching TV!
I’m a person who lives in her head more than the outside world because off all the stories in my head. So I figured maybe I should put down all the stories I had in my head on paper, and share them, see if everyone else loved them as much as I did.

What about historical/regency romance?
I wasn’t much of a fan because the books I’d read so far the characters just seemed stuffy and annoying. But then I found several books published by Second Wind Publishing and I was hooked!
Their books were more than just trying to be historically accurate, they had everything and they seemed to come alive through the words and I couldn’t stop reading them. I’m a huge Regency fan now.

Do you have a favorite and a least favorite scene in the book?
Yes, I do have a favorite scene and a scene that I didn’t like writing but was necessary in the book. A person’s character is built buy the positive and negative things in their lives and the same goes for books.

Is TOL apart of the series? How many books are in the series?
Yes, Trial of Love is apart of the series and the first book. So far, there are 3 books in the series, TOL, A Lady Unbecoming and Lady Nancy.
I’m still playing with the idea of adding more books about some of the supporting characters in TOL. I’ll see how these 3 books go first then take it from there.

Any more new releases for 2014 from you?
Yes. His Paris Affair (Albury Affairs #3) will be out in late June and I’m expecting Book #2 of the Slave Bound series A Lady Unbecoming to be released later on this year.

Excerpt 2
Hallo again,” Carl whispered, pressing her tight against him.
Melanie felt her body go cold at his touch. Quickly she placed her hands on his chest and pushed him away. Nicholas grabbed her hand and pulled her behind him. “What have you done to the lady, Mr. Meed?” He asked harshly.
Carl gave a slight bow, “Nothing Lord Townson.”
“It didn’t look like nothing,” Nancy pushed standing up and moving to Melanie. “Dove, you look pale. What’s the matter?”
Melanie pulled a tight smile over her lips and shook her head, “Forgive me. He took me by surprise and I reacted.”
“See, it was all a misunderstanding.” Carl spoke with a casual laugh.
Nancy nodded, moving back to her seat.
Carl moved towards them and Melanie fought the urge to hide further behind Nicholas. He held out his hand, eyeing her. “May I have this dance?”
She wanted to yell ‘go to hell’ and run out, but, she wasn’t that uneducated girl anymore. She was supposed to either politely decline and make up an excuse or accept.
“You can have the next one Carl,” Nicholas spoke firmly, taking Melanie’s hand and starting the dance. “What did he really do to you Melanie?”
He bought me!
